Used to be that reporters for the AJC traveled often. I went to New York every week for a while in '87 and at least monthly for a couple of years. This photo was taken, obviously, before the dastardly deed was done. Double click and you should see.
I'm a journalist, and have been since July 1971, which is when I started full-time, daily work. I worked for 29.7 years for The Atlanta Journal Constitution and eight years before that for The Associated Press in a number of states, winding up in Manhattan. Before earning a journalism degree I also worked at two weeklies, and after accepting a "voluntary" buyout in 2008 have written for many publications. So I’ve been at this a while. Awaiting publication of a book on mid-19th century newspapers.
This blog also will be used to store random things that I find interesting, funny or sad, such as poems, studies, pictures, essays. I'm getting old and by glancing at this blog I will be able to remember what I would otherwise forget. Or what I have forgotten. You know.
A beautiful and heartbreaking photograph.
